Ruby Nilsson (SE/DK, b. 1993) is an artist and writer whose work interrogates the philosophies, politics, mythologies, and conspiracies that shape our understandings of sex. Through performance, curation and writing she interrogates the liminal and often contradictory overlaps of major and minor forces in the creation of sex; of capital, science and state power vis á vis individual and local levels of need, want and desire.
She is the founder of the transnational initiative Center of Unseen Trans Survival (C.U.T.S.) and is currently developing her upcoming performance feign, co-produced by Inkonst, one of her long-term collaborators.
Her performances and curatorial projects have been presented at venues such as GIBCA, Norbergfestival 2024, Index – The Contemporary Swedish Art Foundation, Konsthall C, My Wild Flag, Skånes Konstförening, Bikubenfonden, VEGA, Fylkingen, Black Box Teater, and more.
Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches the summer course ‘Text as an Artistic Medium’ at The Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, and contributes writing to publications such as Bastard and Paletten Art Journal.
Ruby is educated at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (2019-2025).
